THE Arctic Monkey's success is still giving Barnsley College a boost - with students enrolling from across South Yorkshire.
The chart-topping band were taught music at the college and spokeswoman Rachael Ward said: "We are still seeing a knock-on effect, especially in the music department."
Thousands of youngsters booked their place on a course this week including an increasing number from outside Barnsley.
Dawn Webster, 16, of Sheffield and Helen Wright, 16, of Kimberworth, enrolled for their performing arts course yesterday. Both said they had chosen Barnsley because of its reputation.
Ian Barlow, a college director, said the enrolment was a crucial time and he expected 3,500 full-time students would sign up.
