THE BEST thing about Barnsley is its people and community spirit, according to a residents' survey.
The town’s location, accessibility and architecture were also praised in the council run poll.
Desired improvements included better shopping, leisure, transport and parking facilities and a reduction in crime and litter.
When asked to describe Barnsley most of the residents used words such as ‘friendly’ and many highlighted the beauty of the green spaces.
A council spokesman said the overall results of the One Barnsley survey showed that the town is proud and improving but still in need of regeneration.
