SHE has run 5k a day for 100 days.

And what started out as a personal challenge has helped raise almost £1,500 for a dementia charity.

Sheila O’Carroll, 64, of St Mary’s Garden, Worsbrough Village, started running three miles every day in March.

At first she didn’t know if she would be able to finish it, but fast forward and she has raised some much needed money for the Barnsley Independent Alzheimer and Dementia Support group.

Sheila, a member of Kingstone Runners, said: “I thought about it for a while and didn’t know if I could do it. But I just thought ‘have a go’ and if you can’t do it, it’s ok.

“It was just a personal challenge.”
