A NEW roundabout and link road to ease traffic congestion have been included in major plans for new housing development in Barnsley.
Jones Homes has its eye on a vast plot at Darton spanning nine hectares, stretching from the north of Station Road and south of Bloomhouse Lane. The housebuilder wants to develop the site in two phases, creating almost 300 new homes.
The southern part of the site comprises previously developed land formerly occupied by the old Darton Primary School, which was demolished some years ago. The remaining part of the site to the north is green fields, made up of private land used for grazing animals and open land.
