IT was never going to be a traditional wedding for Claire Mattrick, but getting dressed in a marquee on the drive wasn’t part of the plan.
That was before the River Dearne flooded her parents’ home in Riverside Gardens, Bolton-upon-Dearne in the June and left her without much choice.
“She thought everything would be cleared up by now but was determined to married from here so we made sure that she did,” said mum Jenny from the caravan on the front garden where she and husband Bill have been living for three months.
“Everybody has pulled together to make sure that everything was right for her big day.”
The tented boudoir had tiny trailing fairy lights, a laminated floor laid at one end and a pink carpet in the other. One neighbour supplied materials for the curtains, another lent two mirrors and a plumber welded copper piping together to make a hanging rail for the dresses of the bride and her two bridesmaids.
