ONE student who certainly knows his onions is Jack Nunn.
Jack, from Moorland View, West Melton, achieved an outstanding 12 A* GCSEs in 2015 when he graduated from Netherwood ALC.
And his string of academic success has continued, with Jack achieving two A*s in English Language and French and a B in English Literature at A Level.
He is now heading off to read French at Oxford University’s Worcester College.
Formerly from Darfield, Jack, 18, said: “Since my GCSEs I started looking into Oxbridge and went to a summer school at Oxford, where we had mock tutorials which really got me interested.
“I went down for three or four days of interviews in December and they ask really bizarre questions, for example ‘how would you compare French to the Yorkshire dialect?” It was the toughest thing I’ve ever done but weirdly it was enjoyable.”
He starts at Oxford on October 3. And Jack is setting the bar high for the rest of his family, as he is the first to go to university.
“I’m what’s called a first generation student because none of my family have been before, so going through the application process we didn’t know anything about it. But my mum and dad have been really supportive.”
