BARNSLEY'S own X Factor star Holly Tandy has been proving a big hit at the bookies.
Since the end of the weekend's shows Holly has been the second most-backed to win this year's X-Factor, acquiring 16 per cent of bets across the market, according to analysis by staff at Oddschecker.com.
This is more than twice as many as the next most-backed act, Sean and Conor Price.
Holly, 16, of Darton, is also gaining ground on general favourite Grace Davies in the race to win.
Holly's odds were as high as 25/1 at the end of September, but bookmakers had seen enough of her in bootcamp to lower this substantially; she is now best odds of just 6/1 to win, making her joint second-favourite with the Price brothers. Unsurprisingly, Holly has been a favourite with bettors in her hometown.
Six bets of double figures have been recorded in Barnsley on Holly so far this month with punters seemingly confident she can go all the way. You can see all the odds at https://www.oddschecker.com/tv/x-factor/winning-act
