APPLICATIONS for secondary school places must be made the end of the month.
There are two ways to apply for a place for a child to start secondary school in September 2018.
It can be done online or by filling in a paper application form, available either from the child’s primary school or from the council’s school admissions service.
The paper form can be returned to the head teacher of the child’s current school or sent to school admissions at PO Box 634, Barnsley S70 9GG.
The council advocates applying online as it is easy to use, applicants receive email acknowledgement of their school preferences and there is no form to take into school unless the application is for a voluntary aided school.
There is also no risk of the application getting lost and the result of any application can be sent by email, which is usually quicker than by post.
The closing date for receipt of applications is October 31.
