A MUSICIAN whose guitar was stolen is furious he had to buy it back from a shop - even though he could prove it was his.
The instrument - a replica of one used by Greenday front man Billie Joe Armstrong - was stolen from Michael Sherwood's Shaw Street home.
It turned up in Cash Converters on Shambles Street and when it was identified by a reference number 20-year-old Michael's dad Alan thought it would be returned - but instead he had to buy it back.
Alan said: "I initially felt anger and disbelief that we have had to buy our own property back.
"It is absolutely disgusting. I've told Cash Converters they're as bad as the thieves."
Cash Converter's manager, Raj Singh said, if anybody had been found guilty of the theft the guitar would have been returned free.
