TWO handguns, £500-worth of heroin and a large sum of cash was found by officers carrying out a routine road operation.
They were on Dodworth Road and West Way as part of a drive to get criminals off the road and reduce casualties.
Several vehicles were stopped including one driven by a man who had the heroin and £1,300. A search of his home revealed the guns and he was arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs and questioned about the firearms.
The operation resulted in 20 motorists being reported for offences and four vehicles were seized because they were uninsured or not taxed. Breath tests were also done.
A police spokesman said: “Officers will be trying to reduce casualties on the county's roads while taking every opportunity to deny criminals the use of the road.
"Since the start of January we have seized over 1,000 vehicles from drivers who were either uninsured or unlicensed.”
