WOODHEAD Mountain Rescue Team has reached new peaks after raising enough money to buy an ambulance for their search and rescue efforts.
They bought the 4x4 purpose built off road ambulance for £12,000 from the Buxton Rescue Team after it bought a new one.
The team has not had 4x4 facilities in the past and team leader Michael France said it was a big boost.
He said: “This new ambulance will give us better facilities especially with the inclement weather that's forecasted. There are areas around here that can't be accessed by normal vehicles so it won't just be beneficial to us but also to the emergency services. We will be able to get as close as possible to casualties and that could make the difference."
