MORE than a third of staff at Barnsley's biggest solicitors are under threat of redundancy because compensation schemes for ex miners are winding down.

Bosses at Raleys announced the news to employees on Monday, and over the next six months 75 of the 190 workers could lose their jobs.

The firm has offices in Henry Windsor House on Pitt Street and its headquarters are in the recently refurbished former Queens Hotel on Regent Street.
