HAIRDRESSER Ian Speight says he is sick of being crucified - and will go through the ordeal for the last time next week.

He has played the lead role in Jesus Christ Superstar six times. He will perform at Birdwell's Academy next week. Former venues include the Lamproom, Sheffield's Lyceum and Buxton Opera House.

He said he would never forget the words, but every show still takes a lot of effort because each production is different.

Ian, 33, of Granville Street, Barnsley, said: "The words stay exactly the same, but it's about building the relationship with the other actors.

"It's been absolutely fantastic and I've loved every single minute. But this is the last time I'm doing it. I think I've been crucified about 10,000 times now. I've had enough."

The production runs every night next week from Tuesday to Saturday from 7.30. For tickets, call 744442.
