A GRIMETHORPE Colliery band member has denied a falling out with his brother, the band's manager, led to his and a colleague's contracts being terminated.
Cornet players Roger Webster and Ian Shires have been asked to leave the band. Roger, 48, said no explanation had been given, but since the meeting on December 22 when they were effectively sacked, 23 players have voted or Roger's return.
He said: "The trustees asked us not to continue with the band. I can't say too much because it is in the hands of solicitors. I can't think why this has happened.
Band manager Terry Webster said: "Players come and go at Grimethorpe like a football team and that's all I have to say."
