SOUTH Yorkshire Police are investigating reports of threatening and racist behaviour against staff members at ex-cricketer Azeem Rafiq’s new chip shop.
Officers were called to Mother Hubbard’s chip shop last Friday afternoon following reports that a man, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, began shouting and making threats towards the staff.
An investigation is now underway to locate the man involved.
Rebecca Richardson, the force’s acting Chief Inspector for Barnsley, said: “We take all allegations of this nature very seriously and are working to identify the offender in this case, which is being treated as racially aggravated public order.
“If anybody saw or heard anything that might help with this investigation please get in touch.”
