FRIENDS of Hoyland Lowe Stand have been given funding to carry out a feasibility study into whether the monument can be restored.

The voluntary group applied for money from the Chronicle Community Cash Give-away to carry out the survey to establish repair and renovation costs.

They were granted the £633 needed and hope the architectural study will be completed in the next few months.

Group chairman, Coun Steve Sylvester, said the group were delighted with their progress but warned there was still a long way to go.
