THE WAR memorial at Thurnscoe is to be rededicated after restoration work.
It has been re-pointed, plaques have been cleaned, the plinth has been re-painted and white paint removed from the bottom.
Some repairs have been carried out on the limestone statue of a soldier which has been eroded by rain. A Lincolnshire firm carried out the work costing £5,445.89 which were paid for with funding from the area forum and English Heritage.
Father Mervin Thompson will carry out the service on Thursday July 2, 11am, at the memorial in the park and refreshments will be available afterwards.
Thurnscoe Memorial Trust is trying to raise £1,000 for some areas of repair that were not picked up on the initial inspection.
