A PENSIONER wants to send a message that her gable end wall is not a 'blank canvas' for graffiti artists wanting to leave tags or political messages.

Norma Young, 69, has lived on Racecommon Road for about 25 years but in the last five people have started daubing it in large, prominent spray-painted messages.

She said: "I do sometimes find it quite embarrassing. I keep the inside of my house as presentable as possible. But if someone's coming to visit and I have to tell them how to find me, I end up saying 'it's the one with all the graffiti on the side'.

"It seems to be everybody's sounding board. It's not normally tags or whatever they call it, it's proper sentences and they usually make sure they spell it right.

Her neighbour usually helps her paint over the graffiti. However, under a new policy, all graffiti is now removed from private property free, regardless of what it says.

The number to arrange impact wardens to remove graffiti is 775656.
