STAGECOACH drivers say passenger lives are being put in danger by impossible timetables that are forcing them to break speed limits.
They claim the route times implemented by management are unrealistic and mean drivers are regularly breaking the law to keep time.
Passengers have complained staff are 'driving like maniacs' but drivers have argued they have no choice. One driver, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisals, said it was only a matter of time before someone was killed.
"It's absolutely ridiculous. We are driving illegally because we have to go at such a speed. Someone is going to get killed," he said.
Stagecoach Yorkshire managing director Paul Lynch said: "Stagecoach takes timing matters very seriously and we are committed to providing our passengers with a reliable and punctual network through regular consultations with staff, drivers and unions."
