A NEW stage at the Parkway cinema means live acts including comedians and bands can perform there.
Workmen finished laying it in front of the downstairs screen this week and lighting and electrics will be installed next month.
Cinema boss Rob Younger told the Chronicle £10,000 was being invested and anticipated the first live act would appear in February.
He said: "The building was never built as a theatre and we had a really strange shaped 'stage' that sloped and could not be used.
"That has been levelled and we are going to get some lights in and are going to come up with a bit of a dressing room. It was such a shame because it is such a big wide stage but it was not shaped for.
"There have never been any live performances here . . . but there will be."
