BRAVE Tyler Ogden is to have an operation on his spine which poses a risk he will be left paralysed.

Tyler, 13, of Bruce Avenue, Worsbrough Common, wants to do a sponsored walk to raise money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital to say thank you - but he says he is doing it before the operation ‘just in case’ he is paralysed after it.

He has scoliosis - curvature of the spine - and for the last four years he has had to wear a back brace under his clothes which tries to correct it. But the condition has worsened and now surgery is the only option.

“If I don’t have it, it could start to case damage to my heart and lungs. It will just crush my internal organs basically,” said Tyler.

He has to wear the brace 20 hours a day, and although he can do most things his friends can do, it has stopped him playing contact sports like rugby, and he has missed out on a few school trips.
