AN OFF-duty firefighter with a 4x4 is offering to help charities by making deliveries or visiting vulnerable people.
Craig Huxley, of Sheffield Road, Birdwell, is working nights this week and said rather than sitting at home watching the snow he would like to help.
He said: "If people are cut off or need supplies like groceries or essentials I can help. I can go to the shop or I'm happy to go with a shovel and do some clearing.
"I was talking to my mum about it and she said eveyone used to get digging, so why hasn't anyone done anything about iy?"

Meanwhile police have urged motorists to stay off the roads unless journeys are essential. A spokesman said: "Abandoned cars will make the clearance of roads even more difficult, so the advice is not to attempt to drive anywhere."
