A BOMB made in Barnsley was among the more unusual items donated at a history day on Saturday.
The event was organised by John Tanner the project manager of the new Barnsley museum that is being built in the town hall. He said about 1,150 people turned up at the Civic, many bringing interesting artefacts with them.

“We got a lot of memorabilia of the Kes film. An entire collection of 60mm cine film and lots of old slide collections.”

But the most interesting donation was the bomb. John said: “In the First World War Beatson Clark was used for making ‘sticky bombs’ which were made of glass.”

There was also a display by a team of battle re-enactment fans.

John is keen to hear from anyone who has anything the museum might be interested in, particularly old film. Contact: 773950.
