New MP Dan Jarvis says the Liberal Democrats are 'in a big hole and still digging' after the party appeared to criticise him for taking his children to last week's by-election count.
It comes after LibDem candidate Dominic Carman's comments in a national newspaper where he ridiculed Barnsley saying some residents had never even visited the 'cosmopolitan hubs of Leeds and Sheffield'.
Mr Jarvis said his children were at last week's count because it was a momentous occasion for the family. It beggared belief anybody would raise the issue, he said.
