New windows have been installed at a Barnsley school - even though it is due to be demolished within a year.
The Chronicle understands the dining block windows at Willowgarth high school, Grimethorpe, cost £55,000, just two months were spent on resurfacing the car park.
Willowgarth is being merged with Priory school, Lundwood, at the Shafton advanced learning centre. A new building will open on Engine Lane, Shafton, in JAnuary.
One staff member told the Chronicle, "It's absolutely stupid."
But chairman of governors Pat Doyle said the work was necessary for health and safety reasons.
