A waste transfer station on Carlton Industrial Estate has been approved, despite objections from residents and councillors.
Applicant Allwayste Recycling Limited plans to use a part of a yard at units one to three Shawfield Lane for waste transfer activities.
Eight objection letters and two petitions, one containing 53 names and the other containing four, were submitted to the council.
Coun Dick Wraith said: “I don’t feel it’s the right location on that industrial estate for that type of activity.”
The site will take household waste in skips and sort different recyclable waste metals, glass, timber, clothes and plastics.
