GRAIHAGH Turner won two races in the under 17 category at the Isle of Man running festival.
The Great Britain youth international, who runs for Penistone Footpath Runners, won her age group on Saturday in the Pell Hill Race and on Sunday in the Douglas 5k.
Penistone’s Flynn Rogers took part in the Jan Kjellström International Festival of Orienteering which took place in locations across South Yorkshire.
On the first day he competed in the Urban Sprint in Sheffield City Centre and placed fourth out of 56.
On the second day, he competed in an event in Tankersley Woods where he placed seventh out of 106 and, on the third day, he took on a long distance event in Wharncliffe Woods in which he placed seventh out of 84.
At the Leeds Running Festival held in Roundhay Park on Easter Sunday, Barnsley AC’s Christopher Ryder ran his first competitive 10k race after starting running in January. His time was 49-03.
Penistone husband and wife Dawn and John Broom competed in the Salford 10k.
Dawn took first place in the women’s over60 age category in 44-14.
John pushed hard to break the 40-minute barrier which he just missed out on in a time of 40-24.
Barnsley AC’s Beth Massey finished in a time of 43-52.
At the Helmsley 10k, a multi-terrain race with the first 4k all uphill, Barnsley AC’s Vicky Shaw finished as second woman in a time of 42-26 while Mark Wood’s time was 44-57.
Two Harriers were at the Brighouse 10k.
Angie Slater recorded another PB and was second in her age category, while Jayne Galloway recorded her fastest time in more than five years.
Last week, the latest South Yorkshire Five-Mile Road League meeting took place at Lodge Moor on the outskirts of Sheffield.
Penistone’s James Mumford once again was first back for the club in 30-51 which also gave him third place in the men’s over40 age category.
First woman back for the club was Jade Crosby in 35-04.
There were age group podiums for Barbara Haigh (first over75 woman) and Jonathan Bentley (second over55 man).
Barnsley AC’s Naomi Drakeford was first woman and knocked a minute off her course PB with a time of 31-43 while Wayne Singleton was first over40 man in 29-30. Joe Restell finished as second over50 man with 31-11.
There were third-placed age category finishes for Richard Copley (over35 man) and Lesley Pickersgill (over55 woman).
Rich Spooner was first home of the Barnsley Harriers, with Vikki Skipper the first woman over65.
