TAYLOR Bowen is celebrating winning the world 50kg K1 kickboxing title.
The 14-year-old, from Bolton-upon-Dearne, won his fight in Middlesbrough against Jose Gonzalez Moreno from Spain. Taylor and his brother Harvey compete for Barnsley club The Combat Academy. He is the current British champion.
“I’ve enjoyed my martial arts journey so far with The Combat Academy,” said Dearne Valley College student Taylor.
“It’s a second home and family to me. I love every minute of my weekly eight hours of training, sometimes more.
“I have a positive mindset as the training keeps me in good shape, focused and disciplined.”
Coach Mick Crossland added: “He’s shown a winning mindset, a coachable attitude and a rare consistent willingness to do difficult things others avoid.
“With his respect for his coaches, long-term vision and continued support from his dedicated parents, Taylor has the potential to get to the very top if he stays focused.”
