THE COTTAGE beat New Lodge 3-1 in the Barnsley Sunday League Championship play-off final at Houghton Main on Sunday.
Jordan Pilling scored twice and Callum Walton once.
The Cottage, from Brampton, had lost three previous cup finals this season – in the Sheffield FA Sunday Trophy, Wath and West Melton OAP Charity Cup and the Hospital Cup at Oakwell.
But they won the Supplementary Trophy and have gained promotion to the top flight.
It was thought to be the final game of the local football season in Barnsley.
