ETHAN Weiss is following in his dad and grandad’s footsteps after winning yet another national bodybuilding title - and he’s now gearing up to become Mr Universe.
The 16-year-old from Royston is a relative newcomer to the bodybuilding game but it’s a tradition that’s been in the family for decades.
His dad, Kyle, and grandad, Terry, have been winning tournaments for years now - but Ethan’s making a name for himself in his own right.
He’s won two recent NABBA - National Amateur Body Builders’ Association - titles over the last few weeks.
Kyle told the Chronicle: “Last year Ethan finished second in a NABBA show which already qualified him for the British finals.
“But on May 10 NABBA held their North East competition in Leeds and Ethan went in as a warm up for the British finals in a new category called Junior Men’s Physique.
“He won that and on May 31 the British finals were held a St George’s Hall in Bradford.
“He chose the Junior Physique category and became the first ever Junior Men’s Physique NABBA British Champion and so he’s made history for the federation.”
But he’s not stopping there - and he’s hoping to become Mr Universe in the coming weeks.
Kyle added: “Winning that competition has meant that he has been invited to NABBA Mr Universe in Newcastle in October.
“Bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger once won that before he became Mr Olympia.
“We are really proud of him for winning this title at just 16 years old.
“Ethan’s now focusing on the Mr Universe IBFA title in Italy and the IBFA Mr Europe next month.”
