CORY Sagar is set for his second professional fight this weekend.
The super-middleweight, who is a bricklayer from Worsbrough Common, won on points on his debut against Robbie Chapman in March. He is due to fight at Magna in Rotherham against 38-year-old Serge Ambomo, who absconded from the Cameroon team after competing in the 2012 Olympics and is now a professional based in South Yorkshire. He has lost his last 12 fights.
Sagar said: “I am excited for this one. I was straight back into camp after the first fight to get ready for this.
“Serge is good and strong. He’s tough and fit. He’s boxed for his country.
“He likes to come forward and have a go. I am hoping we have a good fight.
“Then I will be looking for another two fights this year and hopefully a Central Area title next year.”
Sagar had hoped to fight on the undercard of his friend Callum Simpson’s show at Oakwell last month but that did not happen.
“I was hoping for it but we couldn’t get over the line and I don’t know why.
“It was still a good show and I went to support him. Maybe next time if he fights there again, I will be on the undercard. But we’ll just see what happens.”
