A BOOK about a leading football scout is now available to pre-order.

Feeding The Wolves: The story of Mark Crook and Wath Wanderers will be out later this year and is being written by the Barnsley Chronicle’s Ashley Ball.

It tells the story of how Mark provided Wolves with a host of players through his pioneering feeder club, Wath Wanderers, who were based at Cortonwood Miners’ Welfare.

The likes of Ron Flowers, Steve Daley, Alan Sunderland and Cyril Knowles were recommended by Crook as well as future Barnsley FC players Jack Short, Harry Hough, Henry Walters and Jimmy Seal.

The book’s profits are being split between Brampton United JFC and The Wolves Foundation.

It can be pre-ordered for £12 at the Chronicle reception on Church Street, Barnsley (Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10am-2pm), as well as at The Bull’s Head in Brampton and Wath Rugby Club.
