BARNSLEY triathletes took on Ironman Leeds which is the only full Ironman event in England.
Held in the Roundhay Park area, it consisted of a 3,801m swim (two laps of Waterloo Lake), 180.1k cycle (2,572m elevation) and a 42.8k run (455m elevation).
Barnsley AC’s Sean Burke finished in an overall time of 10-20-28 (1-14-23; 5-32-38; 3-22-59) to cross the line as eighth over40 man. Naomi Drakeford also finished eighth in her over30 women’s category with an overall time of 12-28-54 (1-05-38; 7-12-57; 3-57-21).
Penistone Footpath Runner Robin Clough finished in 14-50-03 for 940th.
