WORSBROUGH Bridge won Wednesday’s Barnsley derby at home to Athersley Rec and continued their fine recent form.
Jack Squires scored twice for the hosts either side of a leveller by Rec’s Kane Reece.
The midweek derby was played in front of a crowd of 207.
After losing their first two league games of the season, Worsbrough have won the next four and are currently in the final play-off place in fifth.
Worsbrough manager Lee Morris said: “It was a good win.
“Local derbies are always difficult to predict and everyone raises their game.
“At quarter to ten it was us celebrating with three points which is all that matters.
“We were very sloppy in the first half which is not like us. Rec worked harder than us and there were some home truths at half-time.
“But in the second half we turned it around really well.
“We’ve had a much better start than last season but there is a long way to go and we’ll take each game as it comes.”
Worsbrough had been in FA Vase action at the weekend, losing 2-1 at Euxton Villa.
Keelan Grist’s opener was cancelled out quickly then the hosts won it on 86 minutes.
Rec had lost 2-1 at home to Glasshoughton on Saturday.
Nathan Perks levelled with a penalty just before half-time but the visitors won it in the second half.
Dearne and District’s five-game winning run came to an end with a 2-1 defeat at Maltby Main on Wednesday evening.
Justin Circuit’s opener was cancelled out as the score was 1-1 after seven minutes then the hosts scored a second half winner.
Dearne are second, two points off top with 15 points from seven games so far this season.
They won 2-1 at home to Route One Rovers on Saturday.
Adam Baskerville, whose opener had been cancelled out, netted a last-gasp winner to put his side top.
