SCHOOL governor Jocelyn Egan has dedicated an incredible 25 years to Mapplewell Primary School.

Her volunteering started when her eldest son, who is now 33, was an infant school pupil and she went into class to listen to the youngsters read.

She then became involved volunteering at the then newly-opened Mapplewell Primary.

Today she is still a key part of the school which two of her grandsons attend and is local committee chairperson.

“I have always wanted Mapplewell Primary to be the best school it can be and my motivation is that if I can help make the school good enough for my children and grandchildren then it is good enough for all children.

“A school governor is like a critical friend, observing and helping. School values are so important children all have different academic abilities but all children can be kind, respectful and can be good people.

“That’s why it is so important that the school gives them a strong foundation and teaches them about values.

“Everyone has the potential to be a good person.”
