BARNSLEY North MP Dan Jarvis has taken up a new role in the cabinet office following the Prime Minister’s reshuffle last week.
Dan first entered Parliament as the member for Barnsley Central in 2011 and was elected as the member for Barnsley North in July 2024.
In 2011 Dan became the first person since the Second World War to resign his commission in order to contest a parliamentary by-election.
During the reshuffle, Dan was given a new role for security in the cabinet office.
He told the Chronicle: “It’s an honour to continue serving as Security Minister and to also take up a new role in the cabinet office, focused on national security.
“Nothing is more important than our national security - and I’ll work around the clock to keep our country safe.
“At the same time, I’ll continue championing Barnsley North with everything I’ve got.”
