WATH RUFC continued their winning start to the season with a 13-10 success at home to Dinnington in the Yorkshire League Plate.

Both sides had won their opening two league games and newly-promoted Dinnington went 10-0 up after eight minutes with a try, conversion and penalty.

Jack Whitlam replied with a penalty then the visitors missed a kick in front of the posts which proved crucial.

Ryan Burrows had a try ruled out but, after the break, Robben Bramhall touched down and Whitlam converted for 10-10 before he kicked a last-gasp penalty to win it.

Wath are now due to host Keighley in Yorkshire Division One.

Barnsley’s women lost 19–15 at home to Buckingham Swans in Championship North One. They have lost both their games so far by narrow margins.

Barnsley’s men lost 34-10 at home to lower league Maltby in the Yorkshire League Plate. They are now due to host Wheatley Hills in Yorkshire Division Three on Saturday.

Dearne Valley lost 21-12 at home to Wheatley Hills in Division Three.

They are now due to host Redcar in the Yorkshire Silver Trophy on Saturday.
