THE public are being urged to have their say on proposals to introduce waiting restrictions around Hoyland War Memorial - after a community group raised concerns around problematic parking.

If the plans are approved, ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions will be brought in on parts of Kirk Balk, West Street and Longfields Crescent.

It comes after Hoyland Remembrance and Parade Group reported issues around parking at the war memorial.

A council spokesperson said: “During a site investigation vehicles were observed parked at the junction mouths thereby narrowing the road and restricting visibility.

“There have also been reports of vehicles parking behind the memorial for extended periods of time and causing obstruction to the footpath.

“To address the situation, it is proposed to introduce no waiting restrictions on parts of West Street as well as the junction mouths of Kirk Balk/West Street, and Longfields Crescent/Kirk Balk.”

Public consultation ends on October 17.
