MORE than 40 youngsters were involved with Barnsley Youth Council’s election launch at the Civic.
Those in attendance had the chance to ask questions to Barnsley’s Young Mayor Florence Asquith and youth councillors.
Georgia Moate, the UK’s National Junior Miss Barnsley, was also in attendance.
It was the launch event for the youth council elections which are set to take place in February.
Anyone aged 13 or over can stand for election in their school or college.
All young people aged 11 to 19 can vote in the election, get involved in campaigns, or attend drop-in sessions.
A spokesperson for the youth council said: “It was amazing to see so many young people wanting to get involved, have their say, and make sure youth voice is heard across Barnsley.
“Everyone got the chance to find out more about the work of the Barnsley Youth Council, take part in Q and A sessions with the Young Mayor, MYPs, and youth councillors, and join in with some fun games and activities.
“A big thank you to everyone who came along, got involved, and helped make the day such a success.”
