WOMBWELL councillors have vowed to ensure a former day care centre will be used for the good of the community after it went up for auction this week.
The centre on Littlefield Lane has been derelict for some time and is due to be sold in the coming weeks.
Auctioneers Mark Jenkinson and Co have put a price tag of £125,000 on the building and the auction is due to end at the start of next month.
They said: “The property is fenced with secure parking to the front for a number of vehicles and lies a short walk from Wombwell town centre.
“Potential is offered for a variety of uses and interested parties may look at redevelopment options, all subject to the appropriate planning consents.”
Wombwell councillors Brenda Eastwood, Robert Frost and James Higginbottom told the Chronicle: “We are aware of the upcoming sale of the former day care centre on Littlefield Lane at private auction.
“We will be keeping a close eye on what happens next in terms of the future use of the space and welcome the site being put to good use in due course.
“Residents can be assured that, as your local councillors, we will always engage fully to get the best outcome for the local area.”
