BARNSLEY put last week’s defeat behind them with a confident 3-0 win against Chapeltown last Saturday.
Skipper and man of the match James Shaw set the tone by getting an early goal from a short corner routine involving Kieran Ryan and Rob McCarthy.
The Reds continued to dominate possession and cause problems down the flanks through Joe McArdle and Connor Massey.
It was from another short corner routine where they managed to double their advantage with Ryan this time firing home following a sharp turn.
Shaw got his second and Barnsley’s third before the interval with McCarthy again involved.
Max Hirst, Barnsley’s ‘keeper, was called into action in the second half and pulled off a stunning save from a deflected effort.
The pressure intensified when Vignesh Durairaj was given a ten minute sin bin but Barnsley held on to a deserved clean sheet.
They now face an away trip to Worksop.
