WORSBROUGH Bridge and Barnsley’s under 21 side won midweek to join Dearne and District in the quarter finals of the Sheffield Senior Cup.

Bridge won 3-1 at local rivals Wombwell Town on Tuesday evening to book their place in the next round.

It was a feisty game which Bridge always seemed in control of after Lloyd Smith netted in the first minute.

Wombwell skipper Jack Dando then saw red for a high collision with Keelan Grist.

It took until the final minute of the first half for Bridge to take advantage of the extra man when Juninho Blake hammered home.

Wombwell continued to battle but found goalkeeper Owen Evans in fine form.

Smith got his second on 81 minutes to secure their passage through.

A consolation goal came for the home side late on with Kenneth Effah turning home.
