DRUG offences rose by more than ten per cent in South Yorkshire last year, it has been revealed.

Figures from the Home Office show South Yorkshire Police logged 5,710 drug offences in the year to June - up 13 per cent from 5,036 the previous year.

It means around four drug offences per 1,000 people were recorded in the area last year, which was in line with the average across England and Wales.
