Callum Simpson lost for the first time in his professional boxing career after being put down four times by Troy Williamson in the tenth round in Leeds.
The Barnsley man lost his British, European and Commonwealth super-middleweight titles to his opponent from Darlington.
Simpson had some good spells early in the fight but Williamson was on top in the ninth then floored the Barnsley man early in the tenth.
Simpson tried to recover but was put down a further three times with the referee eventually calling it off.
Simpson was one of three Barnsley boxers on the show in Leeds.
Cory ‘the Barnsley Warrior’ Sagar from Worsbrough Common made it five wins from five professional fights with a 39-36 points win over Leeds journeyman Joe Hardy in a lively four-round contest.
He said: “It was a really good buzz – big stage, big performance. I think I boxed smart, clean.
“I could have done a bit more, but the main objective was just to keep it clean, smart boxing, and get a big win on a big stage, and that's what I've done.”
Jake Jon Cleary, from Wombwell, won 58-57 on points against home favourite Ellis Ward in their welterweight clash. Cleary also remains unbeaten in five professional fights.
After the fight, Cleary told the Chronicle: “Actions speak louder than words.
"There's that good old saying in Barnsley that's on our coat of arms - Spectemur Agendo, let us be judged by our actions.
"And that's what I went in and did.
"I'm over the moon.”
