BARNSLEY Chess Club has moved to a new venue after more than a decade at Locke Park Working Men’s Club.
The club, which meets every Tuesday from 7.30pm, will now use Gilroyd Social Club as its new venue.
They have had a successful decade or so in Kingstone but decided to make the move from the new year.
Member Thomas Edwards said: “Barnsley Chess Club has moved to a new venue at Dodworth’s Gilroyd Social Club after more than ten successful years at Locke Park Working Men’s Club.
“During that time, membership grew and the club enjoyed notable success, including last season’s Division Three title for the B team, Division Four for the C team in the Sheffield League, and a retained Doncaster League championship.
“The club thanks Scott and everyone at Locke Park for their long-standing support.
“A change in opening hours prompted the move, and after exploring several welcoming venues, Gilroyd proved the ideal fit.
“Thanks go to Adrian and the team at Gilroyd for the warm welcome.”
