NEW digital signs have been installed in the town centre to help locals find car parking spaces easily.
The signs are at the four main car parks in the town centre - The Seam, the Glass Works, Market Gate and the Alhambra.
These signs are designed to make parking easier, reduce congestion and help improve air quality.
The Lower Seam car park will also be reopening soon, adding 292 more spaces and helping to support broader regeneration efforts in the town centre.
A total of 48 new pay machines have also been installed at town centre car parks.
Coun James Higginbottom, cabinet spokesperson for environment and highways, said: “Our vision is to make parking in our town centre more affordable and accessible for our residents, visitors and workers.
“The Seam, Market Gate, the Glass Works and the Alhambra are the four main car parks in the town centre.
“By displaying the availability of spaces at these locations, we hope to save you time and make your journeys smoother, whether you’re using one of these car parks or choosing one of the alternatives nearby.
“This is another positive step for our community, building on last year’s improvements such as the new pay machines and our straight-forward pricing model.
“We’re committed to making parking as simple and convenient as possible for everyone who lives and works in Barnsley.”
