Conor Hourihane is pleased to have already won more home league games than Barnsley managed last season but now wants many more and also better away form.

The 3-1 victory over Stevenage was the Reds’ seventh home league win of the season.

Hourihane told the Chronicle: “It’s really good. It’s so important to win in front of your own fans. I still have half an eye on the away form, we need to improve that a little bit. But we’re ready for another home game on Tuesday and hopefully we can continue that record.”

David McGoldrick, after returning from injury, came back into the side to play up front with Davis Keillor-Dunn. Jono Bland dropped to the bench. The Reds changed from a back three to 4-4-2.

“There were a couple of reasons. We wanted attacking players on the pitch, they had a really good defence. We felt like we would have the ball for long periods so having more forward-thinking players was positive.

“Blandy has played loads of mintues and he’s having a bit of a dip at the minute in terms of his energy and intensity. A spell out of the team for him is going to be really good to come back in a really energetic way. You look at Didzy and Davo who can lead the line together which was great.”
