FAMILIES are invited to join a free celebration event in the town centre to mark one year of Barnsley’s Great Childhoods Ambition.

Launched in 2025, the Great Childhoods Ambition is the council’s commitment to helping Barnsley’s children and young people thrive.

The celebration event will bring together local organisations, community groups and partners for a free fun‑filled day of activities, performances and hands‑on experiences designed for children and young people of all ages.

It will be held at The Glass Works Square on Saturday, March 28.

Coun Ashley Peace, cabinet spokesperson for children’s services, said: “This celebration event is all about recognising the incredible work happening in our borough as part of our Great Childhoods Ambition.

“Over the past year we’ve come together with some fantastic organisations, groups and partners to strengthen opportunities for our young people and support them to have a great childhood.

“I’m really proud of what’s been achieved so far and excited to invite families to join us in celebrating.

“It’s going to be a fantastic day for everyone.”
