A THURNSCOE teenager who chased a man up the street with a machete before attacking him has been jailed.

Jayden Johnson, 18, of Stotfold Drive, arranged to buy a car online on May 11 and when the seller arrived, he made threats towards him.

Less than 24 hours later, Johnson stole a mobile phone after assaulting a member of the public.

Just three days after the phone theft, Johnson ran up Chapel Lane brandishing a machete before smashing a door window in an attempt to harm the occupant of the property - having previously made threats to kill the same victim.

Johnson was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, making threats to kill, possession of a bladed article in a public place, assault, theft and robbery - to which he pleaded guilty to all counts.

He was jailed for five years and seven months at Sheffield Crown Court last Wednesday.

Detective Constable Chelsea Russell said: “Those that call our communities home should not expect threats or fear of violence while going about their daily lives.

“Johnson repeatedly targeted one victim and wreaked havoc on a number of others who he targeted with his threatening and persistent behaviour.
