BARNSLEY man Alex Oldale has extended his contract with the Sheffield Steelers.

The 21-year-old netminder from Hoyland endured an injury-plagued first season, mainly with the Steeldogs second team, but has penned a new three-year contract.

He said: “I couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to re-sign in Sheffield. I believe the set-up of the two-way contract is hugely important for my development and gives me a great chance to continue learning from experienced goaltenders across both teams.

“After dealing with setbacks during my first season here, I’m determined to work hard, improve every day, and give everything I have for the fans and the club in pursuit of winning trophies.

“I truly believe that, over the next three years, we have everything in place to make it a very exciting and successful period for hockey in Sheffield.”
